The Würzburg-based Flexus AG extends the intralogistics platform FLX-TLS with optimization methods of artificial intelligence and neural networks - with 3D simulation and live forecast of the material flow.

 

 

 

 3D-SIMULATIONS & MATERIAL FLOW FORECAST OPTIMIZED WITH AI AND NEURAL NETWORKS

At LogiMAT 2019, Würzburg-based Flexus AG will be presenting its innovative 3D simulation based on a real-time intralogistics image for the first time. The simulation enables current forecast planning both in real-time live operation and for newly planned hall areas or new locations. Fundamental planning decisions regarding capacity, resources and employee planning in the intralogistics processes are thus possible. Predictions of the arrival time of a transport order can also be made directly when the order is created. The data is simulated using various driving algorithms and neural networks.

 

PLANNING MODE SUPPORTS THE SELECTION OF THE RIGHT RESOURCES AND THEIR NUMBER

In planning mode, the simulation provides basic decision-making aids for process optimization. The selection of resources in number and their combination (stacker, route train, driverless transport systems, ...) are analyzed by the system in a comparative way. The simulation also supports decisions regarding the correct transport container units (crates, small load carriers, ...). The structural setup of storage areas and the structure of the routes to production, dispatch and incoming goods can be improved.

 

USING PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS IN REAL-TIME MODE

In live mode, the visualization enables the creation of a digital twin of the warehouse processes including live positions of resources in 3D. The forecast simulation enables a live decision support for the sequence planning of transport orders and enables a real-time optimization of the transport orders.

The current workload and situation of the material flow is set in perspective to the expected planning data. Known special influences from outside (short-term changes in customer requirements, machine malfunctions, etc.) are taken into account in the simulation.

 

PLANNING CAPACITIES WITH FORESIGHT

Simulation as a comprehensive control tool can be used for capacity, resource and employee planning in intralogistical operations. Shortages with regard to required personnel and storage capacities can be recognized early and measures can be taken.

 

REALISTIC PREDICTION OF DELIVERY TIMES FOR TRANSPORT ORDERS

If material is requested by an employee via the FLX-TLS - for example in production for further machine supply - the system uses the simulation component to make realistic predictions about the planned arrival time of the transport order. Thus, when an order is requested, the control system provides direct feedback as to when the delivery will be made by forklift, route train or driverless transport system - based on the current order situation. The time forecast is based on an AI that has been trained using Machine Learning or Deep Learning.

 

FLX-TLS SUPPORTS CENTRAL PROCESSING AND CONTROL OF TRANSPORTS

As part of the Flexus Intralogistics Suite, the FLX-TLS control system supports the central processing and control of all movements on the plant premises. The control system as SAP Add-On coordinates the holistic control of all resources (mobile employees, forklifts, route trains, driverless transport systems) by connecting all relevant systems (SAP modules, such as WM, EWM; machine data integration, manual triggers). The optimisation of the use of resources and a secure supply are in the foreground. AI and neural networks are an important component of optimization strategies.

The 3D simulation and real-time tracking of resources can be tested at Stand A37 in Hall 8 - also with VR headset.
